Travelling Abroad?
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO
If you require foreign travel vaccinations, please call in to the Health Centre and pick up a pre-travel risk assessment form or simply download our form. You can then email us your complete form along with a copy of your vaccination history from your own practice directly to us by emailing it to dg.gpclin.y18240@nhs.scot . If emailing, please contact the practice to make us aware of the incoming documents and to obtain our BACS details to pay our £15.00 admin fee.
Please list all countries including in-transit ones to determine what vaccinations are required. There is further information about countries and vaccinations required by clicking here and selecting the country/countries you intend travelling to.
WHEN YOU NEED TO DO IT
It is important to contact the Health Centre as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you intend to travel.
This is because some of these vaccines have to be ordered as they are not stock items. Once the Healthcare professional has decided which vaccines you require, they may need to be ordered on via private prescription to be collected from the Well Pharmacy on Dalbeattie High Street. You will then be contacted to make an appointment with the practice nurse to administer the vaccines. (We may be bale to assist you if you are going away at short notice but we cannot guarantee this.)
It is YOUR responsibility to pick up YOUR private prescriptions from the pharmacy before your appointment and keep them refrigerated if it is indicated on the packaging.
Please note that some medication(s) required for travel immunisations will be issued on a private prescription and will incur a fee payable at the pharmacy. This is because travel vaccination is not included in the services provided by the NHS and is therefore a chargeable service.
WHAT WE WILL DO
The Healthcare professionals will check which vaccines your require. Please allow 10 working days from payment of your admin fee. We will contact you to arrange the appropriate appointments. You will be informed of any further payments necessary at this point. These will be payable at the time of your appointment.
Once you have had your vaccines, we will send a copy of these to your own practice for their records.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST
